U2 is steaming their Rose Bowl show live on YouTube this weekend. Even major players are embracing the power of online (and free) content.
Very smart of them to do this. Releasing free albums online is old news. This is the next step.
What YOU need to think about is not streaming your live show, although that wouldn't be a bad idea, but how you're going to be the first at something similar.
Nobody remembers who was second.
Post thoughts below...
Are you joking? This is not the first streamed concert online by a long shot!
U2 marketing hook line and sinker. There have been many independant artists doing this for years, just check out ustream.tv
These guys are playing catch up and yet because of the media circus attached they get great coverage for something others have been doing for ages and get claimed to be revolutionary. What a shame.

I hear where you're coming from, but...
Not to take away from the indies on UStream, but there is a big difference between that and a major player like U2 doing something on YouTube.

hey man
i think what u2 are trying to do is give the fans
a taste for a free concert to get them used off the new streaming fad that has come about they can fit 75,000
fans in a stadium but millions can watch on the net, im irish myself and u2 are setting up their fishing rods
to reel in the big catch.
so i wouldn,t knock their hustle im sure by this time next year their will be a range of top stars performing live on the net
its all about 1 thing money they give ya something free to hook you in to buying the second
