It turns out that sometimes 140 characters (and ill-informed bloggers) sometimes don't tell the whole story: he tweeted in follow up that his "commentary on my arrival was based on encountering ppl who didn't want me at hotel" and not about the city.

Fair enough that it wasn't whole story. But at same time, if you're in or doing business, making negative comments while using social media of any type is probably going to get back your clients. Maybe consider who might see your posts before making them.
