Johnny & Michelle

That's a good list. But remember, 3 things keep a band together.

Any 2 of these and you will survive.

Only 1 and you will break up.

1. The music you make.
2. The friendship between the members.
3. The money you make.

You need 2 out of 3.

Band? What band? I can't get a band together to save my ass. I guess I am all of the above and then some. I have been all of that crap at times. Been there, been that.

Screw bands... They just take your money anyway, what little of it there is to be made. Who needs 'em?

Juni Fisher

I work solo, but am often at places with bands, and have worked with bands....it's a good list...I do not tolerate drug use in my band for any any reason, though, it is ILLEGAL. I would not allow anyone in my band to have an alcoholic beverage on stage, or in the green room before a show...I want everyone as on cue and on key as I am.

Paula Benson

I just fired a guy two days ago. He called the piano player rather than me to tell him he wasn't coming to practice. I thought okay then I said to myself later I said get rid of him. Now, I've gotten text messages, phone calls from him as to reasons he should be playing for me. One of the other reasons I fired him was his girlfriend answer his cell and said he did not have this phone anymore. I will not deal with drama from girlfriends and boyfriends of musicians and singers. I have to contact people in my band for business and business only. Later he lied and said I had the wrong number the other reason I will never hire him. Later he found out that the number I had was his new number that the piano player had given me.

You're Fired if you are not professional.

Paula B.

I will not allow liars, drugs, and any other stuff to be apart of my show. That reflects badly on me. People do not like drama.

Derek Nicoletto from Telling on Trixie

We have a no-a-hole rule in Telling on Trixie. And we've done our share of weeding out, and it's been totally worth it, because now we've got a cooperative, professional, non-alcoholic bunch of guys.

Punky

It should go to 11 reasons! Violence...our ex keyboard player hit all 10 reasons and even went to 11! He beat up his girlfriend and then attacked our Booking Agent (a woman) a week later! And this guy is 49 years old...he's out...next article should be how to deal with an ex bandmember stalking fans of the band...he is now stalking fans and music contacts - talking smack and trying to hurt the band. Feel like posting the pics of his girlfriend in the hospital after he beat her - and our booking agents arm after he bruised it grabbing her- this guys is a real psycho!

Juni, Ha ha you would have fired Louis Armstrong and Bob Marley because they were not keyed up to your standard.
My criteria for firing
1: Person is mean, obnoxious and/or dishonest.
2: Refuses to practice and improve skills.
Anything else is none of my business.

Steve-O

aren't YOU awesome?
