I spoke too soon. The reality show about INXS does have a good singer. Actually, he's incredible. And seeing and hearing him gives me hope for rock music.
His name is Ty Taylor and he has a background in musical theater, including lead in the Broadway production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."
And from the info on his blog, he seems like a pretty down to earth guy, which is nice because the industry already has enough assholes.
Strangely enough, he reminds me a lot of Marty Evans, a guy I sent to audition for the show a few months ago. Same influences, similar sound, similar look... And because of the similarity, I'll forgive Mark Burnett Productions for passing Marty over.
By the way, I'm working on getting my friend Reen Nalli from Universal Records scheduled to be a guest on Music Business Radio. She's the one who signed INXS to Atco. And when that happens, we'll give you the real scoop on this show and more.
WANT TO HEAR MUSIC BUSINESS RADIO? Click on one of these syndication links, depending on which service you use for your homepage, and you'll get it as soon as it's uploaded.
Don't use any of these services? Here is the XML feed which will work in iTunes and other services.
Get yourself set up, before you forget, and you'll get the shows automatically downloaded to your computer as soon as they're available.
By the way, I watched a few of the other INXS contestants and they did nothing for me. Of course, I could be wrong... I'm not a producer. My job is selling music. :)
