I'm a big beliver in the need for personal time. I think it's an important part of finding out, maintaining, and improving on who you are.
The music business is hard because you'd got fans pulling on you one way, your label and management team pulling on you another, and you're caught somewhere in the middle wanting to do something that will please everbody. And you need to please yourself.
And as simple as it sounds, taking time out each day for a little "private time" will help you maintain this.
You've no doubt seen episodes of "Behind the Music" where artists were derailed by "Yes Men" who only hyped them up on something that didn't exist and got them into trouble. It's easy when things are moving fast.
Taking a little time for yourself will help maintain your balance.
Elvis died in the bathroom...with the door locked. It was the only time he could get away, have time to himself, and get a moment of peace.
Don't get to the point where Elvis was. Conciously plan and protect your private time.
