Sounds like an Oprah episode, doesn't it?
What does around comes around. You've heard that before, right?
Usually, the phrase is used to mean something like, "If you do something bad, you'll get what is coming to you." And while I believe that to be true, it's also true that if you do something nice, the energy that you put out by doing that nice act will be returned to you.
I've seen this happen time and time again. There is a catch though. You can't be worried with whether or not your kind act will be returned; you have to leave that up to faith.
Intention is huge in this business. You can't control how things will work out, so why try? Just throw whatever you do out there and do it because you enjoy doing it.
This is true for both acts of kindness and your music business. If you're playing music only because you want to become famous, you'll miss out on the act of playing music.
A guy I ran into last week said it best. "If you have one foot in the future and the other in the past, you'll piss all over yourself."
